DST can kiss my *ss

March 16, 2010

Is there any human that actually enjoys switching the clock back and forth every year? Perhaps it’s still useful for farmers? But there are so few of them left, I can’t believe that this hell is really worth it for the rest of us. Also, isn’t it a little weird that certain places in our country just abstain from the whole affair? Which states are those? I want in.

The shift messes me up every time. I think I’m a pretty good traveller, but conquering jet-lag was never one of my strong suits. I know this is only an hour, but an hour can make quite a difference. It’s the difference between getting a reasonable start to your day and feeling like an absolute slug. It’s the difference between eating dinner at a normal hour and eating too close to bedtime. It’s hard enough to keep any semblance of a normal schedule when one works for oneself. This time shifting certainly doesn’t help. Blarg.

I think it was supposed to promote economic activity in general when it was started. But I think studies have shown that it does not help much at all. Indianna is the state that does not participate. I think. JB
