Goodbye, hair!

April 30, 2011

I had been thinking about cutting my hair for a long time. Years, even. I’ve not ever had a really short ‘do. The shortest I’ve gone in recent memory is chin-length. I’ve always wanted enough to pull back from my face because I guess I have a phobia about hair in my eyes or something. But I’ve also always been curious about what I would look like with it short. Part of me was afraid it would be too pouffy and make my head look huge, and you know how big it is already, so there’s no need for more volume. I was also afraid that the upkeep would just require too much of me. I am a low-maintenance kind of woman. I do not wish to be shackled by blow dryers, hot irons, and products.

Well, I went in for my annual (*shrinks with embarrassment*) haircut and let my stylist loose. He hacked off a bunch of it, then designed the style from there, based on how my hair was falling and moving. I am so in awe of people who get hair.

So, here is before:

And after!

It is wonderfully low-maintenance. I need just a dab of something to keep the front out of my eyes. I washed it today, and didn’t have to do anything to it! Amazing. Hubby says I look more Asian because now I have a hair style, as opposed to just hair. I’m not sure about that, but I like it so far. I think my shower time was cut down substantially, and my shampoo usage is sure to decrease. I still think it might be a little pouffy, but I like the feeling of the breeze on my neck, and running was a little easier today without a heavy ponytail weighing me down!
