A day trip and a night out

July 13, 2011

I had my first decent night’s sleep in a long while last night. It really cooled down here, and we had a fan going, so the temperature was just perfect. Although I still woke up periodically, I was able to turn over and go immediately back to sleep until about 5:15, when I woke up for real. It is very easy to get up early here. It gets bright and sunny in the morning, and it doesn’t feel like a chore to wake up.

Last night, the fam indulged another of my whims when I decided I just had to have a lobster roll from Taber’s, a glorified hotdog stand with a driving range and mini-golf course by the lake. Aforementioned lobster roll, some clam strips, and a heath crunch hot fudge sundae later, I was one sated gal. Hey, if I didn’t indulge once in a while, I’d go nuts, especially given all the things pregnant people are not supposed to eat. I’d come out ahead on fruits and veggies if I did an official tally.

The boys took swings at a bucket of balls. Here’s Darien looking more adept at driving than perhaps he should.

We arrived home just in time to witness a magnificent sunset.

This just day after another long travel day involving a three-hour commute to and from Boston for a client meeting. A pleasant enough trip, but just a long time to spend in a car only a day after the big drive to get to Maine in the first place. However, we did get to see a nice view of the water.

And something you would never see in New York: bunting!

We are going into town to watch the women’s world cup today. Go USA!
